When I called about the cracks in the walls and ceilings in my ten year old custom home, an appointment was scheduled for the following week at my request. After Gary introduced himself we went for a walk around the outside of the house. Gary measured and drew the foundation before we went inside to look at the cracks I called about. After inspecting each room for visual signs, Gary measured the floor to see if it was level. It was not: it sloped 2 inches over 50 feet, not bad but if I didn't do something the foundation would continue to shift over the years as the house is on heavy clay. Gary listed of options for both long term and short term correction, and provided written information to help me decide what to do and budget for over the next two to ten years.

Our foundation problem was somewhat unique since it concerned 2 slabs: one from the original house and another from an addition that the previous owner had built. After G A Coffing inspected the foundation they explained to me in detail what he had found. Gary showed me in the house where the foundation had sloped and the cracks that had resulted. He absolutely never, never, never tried to pressure me to make the repairs. He explained the situation and his recommendation to correct the condition of the foundation. He later provided me a written description and estimate for the work. I decided to have the foundation repaired. Mr Coffing’s work crew arrived as scheduled and completed the work timely. The leader of the crew was extremely polite and was very careful not to get any dirt in the house. After they dug the holes he came to the door and invited me outside to show me where the house was unlevel and then again to show me the difference after they installed the piers. He also showed me how the cracks in the walls had closed up. When the crew took a break for lunch the crew leader again came to the door to tell me that they were breaking for lunch so I would know why they weren’t working. He was very professional. The crew left the yard very neat and level. After the work was completed a State registered Engineer met me at the house and showed me the readings and confirmed they were within allowable levels. Mr Coffing then sent me his lifetime warranty for the work. Great experience.
